(June 16, 2025) Gary Indiana-born/Detroit-raised singer/songwriter Michon Young has wowed audiences from the States all the way to the UK, where prior releases such as “Always Remember” hit the top of the charts. Shepherded into music via Gospel’s legendary Winans family, Michon started within that genre before moving towards more secular works.
Michon’s newest single, “All Around Perfect,” is a smooth groover that begins with her sultry alto acapella intro, before the rhythm section kicks in with a mellow jazzy layer of keyboards of drums. She uses multi-layered vocal overdubs to her advantage, creating a delicious sound appealing to the ear. As for the story within the lyrics, Michon cleverly borrows from the BeBe and CeCe Winans blueprint- showing praise for the attributes of another, while leaving the listener wondering if she’s singing about a fellow human or a higher being.
Overall, “All Around Perfect” from Michon Young is a mellow and positive slice of feel-good soul/R&B with a touch of jazz flourishes. A tune that’s worthy of one’s summertime music playlist.
