(December 6, 2023) The Funk Factor is a collective of musicians and artists that have a goal of not only providing music that listeners can enjoy but also help to recall memorable sounds and vibes of the past. Led by Detroit native Tim King, this group has found success with their most recent project entitled Today’s Soulful Sound of Detroit Volume Two which includes the singles “He’s Mine” and “Singing That Song Once Again.” Their newest single, “I Get Emotional,” looks to keep things trending positively for the group.
On this ballad, another Detroit native, Jamiliah Minter, handles lead vocals and delivers a confident performance. Lyrically, “I Get Emotional” deals with the feelings experienced when you’re near the one that you love and care about. The arrangement immediately recalls ballads from the 60s and 70s with the drum and percussion leading the way, along with Minter’s layered background vocals.
Taking a step back to push the group forward is an effective move for King, Minter and The Funk Factor to make on this single. “I Get Emotional” is a song that can reach people from different generations individually, which allows the to collectively enjoy the goodness that it has.
