(March 7, 2023) When Little Anthony & The Imperials released “Goin’ Out of My Head” in 1964, it was clear they had created a song for the ages. The Robert Weinstein and Teddy Randazzo composition went on to sell over four million copies for Little Anthony, and later became a staple for such artists as Frank Sinatra, Luther Vandross, Ella Fitzgerald and more.
The now iconic song also became one of the keys to Little Anthony & The Imperials’ 2009 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Now the legendary singer, age 82, returns to sing a new version of his classic song in duet form with trumpeter and singer Johnny Britt, as a sneak preview to Britt’s upcoming album After We Play (March 17). The two artists are both recent Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award winners, and Johnny is also receiving an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy and Humanitarianism. And just to make it even more interesting, the great George Benson is also part of the song, providing his always recognizable guitar work.
The resulting number brings the classic song forward to 2023, giving it a cooler, jazzier urban feel, just right for nighttime grooving. It is great hearing these great artists performing together, and we’re proud to present this new song’s World Premiere. Check it out below.
