Whitney Houston memorabilia to be auctioned for charity

(July 21, 2026) — Julien’s Auctions has announced the second annual Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation auction, featuring memorabilia from the archives of the late music legend. The sale will take place Tuesday, August 11, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time in Los Angeles.

Proceeds will support the Foundation’s scholarships, arts education programs, community services and other initiatives focused on creating opportunities for young people.

Selected items from the auction will be displayed during the Foundation’s fifth annual Legacy of Love Gala on Saturday, August 8, which would have been Houston’s 63rd birthday. The “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”-themed event will be held at The Whitley Hotel in Atlanta, with Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds serving as the headline performer.

Among the featured auction items is an oversized Richard Avedon portrait of Houston that once hung in her office. The collection also includes an RIAA-certified nine-times-platinum award recognizing sales of her 1987 hit “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me),” which earned Houston the 1988 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Other items include a gold-plated Social Security card engraved with Houston’s name, an embellished jacket designed by Bob Mackie and a black mesh mini dress worn during her final Nothing but Love World Tour performances.

Houston also wore the dress while attending Prince’s “21 Nite Stand” concert at The Forum in Inglewood, California, where she joined Prince onstage for an unplanned dance and performance.

“We’re honored to partner with the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation following the incredible success of last year’s auction,” said Martin Nolan, co-founder and executive director of Julien’s Auctions. Nolan said the sale gives fans an opportunity to celebrate Houston’s life while supporting the Foundation’s youth-focused programs.

“This is our second year with Julien’s Auctions, and their global reach has been fantastic,” said Pat Houston, president of the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation and executor of the Estate of Whitney E. Houston. “This year, we have some great one-of-a-kind memorabilia from Whitney’s archives, and we are excited about the auction.”

Whitney Houston sold more than 220 million recordings worldwide and remains one of the most successful and influential vocalists in popular music history. During her lifetime, she also supported arts education, music programs and community initiatives.

The collection is available for viewing and bidder registration through Julien’s Auctions. The auction will begin August 11 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, or 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
