We’ve been covering the ultra-talented Kinsman Dazz Band for years, as they’ve spread their wings into new music and varied styles. And that continues on the group’s newest song and video, “Bossa Nova Tonite,” a tasty midtempo number written and produced by Kinsman leader Michael J. Calhoun. and featuring singer Habaka.
It would be an understatement to say that Habaka comes from a musical family. Her father, Melvin Jackson, played saxophone in BB King’s band for two plus decades. Habaka’s mother, Mary Ann Jackson, was an international dancer and jazz vocalist. Her grandfather, Jerry Jackson, was a pianist and promoter.
On the romantic “Bossa Nova Tonite,” Habaka and Kinsman Dazz Band take listeners on a journey to Brazil. They conjure images of romance on the beaches of Sao Paolo as a couple sways to the music of Jobim. Check out the new music video of Habaka and the Kinsman Dazz Band on the sensual ballad “Bossa Nova Tonite” here. It is our Video of the Month for January.
