Whitney Houston made a bit of a splash as an actress years ago in The Bodyguard and Waiting to Exhale, among other movies, and the word on the street is she is negotiating to return to the silver screen in a remake of the 1976 movie Sparkle.
In the proposed remake, Houston would play the mother of aspiring young singer Jordan Sparks (of American Idol fame), who wants to be part of a female vocal trio similar to the Supremes.
The original Sparkle movie featured Irene Cara and was a moderate success. Here is a song from the original movie:
