Urban Organic music event promotions group’s reputation has been built on delivering quality talent to music and art loving audiences. Since its inception, it has celebrated and promoted emerging, and progressive soul and hip-hop artists from around the world. In recent years, Urban Organic has produced an indoor, multi-venue festival which has drawn hundreds of attendees including, artists, and industry types from around the United States, Canada and as far away as London, England and Paris, France.
This year, the organization will present a concert featuring UO stalwarts Raheem Devaughn, Kindred, Monica Blaire, as well as newcomers Charity and Vina Mills to celebrate its 9 year existence. To name a few – Dwele, Ledisi, Estelle, Chrisette Michele, Jasmine Sullivan, Kem, Kindred, Raheem Devaughn, Anthony David, Amp Fiddler, Leela James, Goapele, and Eric Roberson were all introduced to the Detroit market via Urban Organic. In a Detroit News article, Motown recording artist Kem applauded, "Urban Organic for creating an essential sort of springboard for talent on the rise…..when you are invited into the experience, it’s like you’re going through a necessary initiation into the Detroit Live Music marketplace." The Detroit Free Press indicated that the Urban Organic produced is one of the "most notable events of it’s kind!"
"This year’s celebration is a look forward and a look back," says Drake Phifer, founder of Urban Organic. "There’s still lots of excitement surrounding these artists that we first promoted years ago before anybody knew them. This year’s anniversary concert is just a way to show how relevant these artists have become and remain, as in the case of Raheem DeVaughn and Kindred. It’s also a way to show that we are still funneling great new talent to the stage as in the case of Monica Blaire, Vina Mills, and Charity. These are the artists locally, who are paying their Dues. All of them are positioning to make a much larger impact in music, both the nationally and internationally."
Raheem Devaughn, Kindred, Monica Blaire, Vina Mills, and Charity will perform at the 9 annual Urban Organic Anniversary Concert, which takes place on Friday, December 3 at the Music Hall located at 315 Madison Ave, in Detroit’s Harmonie Park. Doors open at 6:30pm.
