(12/8/12] Toni Braxton, who has battled the autoimmune disease Lupus for several years, has been hospitalized in Los Angeles. Braxton tweeted last night (December 7) “Hey guys, I’m in the hospital for health issues related to Lupus & Blood clots, I will be home soon…Thanks for all the love&support! Xoxo”
Lupus is defined by the Mayo Clinic as
Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs. Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs.
Complications from lupus and related ailments have slowed Braxton’s ability to perform frequently on stage, and also caused her to stop her successful show in Las Vegas. Fortunately, the ailment hasn’t affected her voice or her well known determination.
