(September 1, 2021) Music fans received a big, happy jolt tonight, when percussionist supreme Sheila E posted online a photo of her with the iconic Stevie Wonder, with the caption, “In the Lab with one of my best friends working on his new album. It’s incredible. Can’t wait for u to hear it.”
While Sheila E has remained quite busy over the past few years (prior to COVID), with her regular tours — where she is still killing it — and on record. Her 2019 album Iconic was terrific, and she followed in last year with the hot single “Lemon Cake.”
Wonder, on the other hand, has been relatively quiet. Fans were praying through the Fall of 2019 when Wonder underwent a kidney transplant, from which he reportedly recovered well. And while he released a few singles from the vaults last year, we’ve not heard a full studio album from him since 2005’s A Time For Love. So fans are definitely ready to hear what is on the 71 year old singer’s mind during these unique times in which we live. He has teased that he is working on two projects, Through The Eyes of Wonder and The Gospel Inspired By Lula.
Here’s hoping for more news about the new Wonder album, and about this collaboration made in heaven.
