From time to time, we like to give shout outs to groups around the US and Europe who are creating new ways to connect soul music fans and artists. And this week, we’re giving a nod to Richmond, Virginia’s Saturday Soul Social. Founded in 2010, Saturday Soul Social, which has been covered by respected pubs like Style Weekly and The Urban Daily, is a Live music event featuring indie soul artists. Endorsed by the Virginia Black Music Foundation, the concert series is dedicated to offering music lovers an evening of upscale live soul musical performances, while providing independent artists with a place to share their musical gifts and expose their brand to the Virginia market. Saturday Soul Social just launched its 5th season.
And in the upcoming SSS, a SoulTracks fave will be performing. On March 7th, indie soul superstar and multiple SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award winner, Angela Johnson, will be in the house. Hosted by award-winning indie soul-singer and Artrepreneur, Jarrard Anthony, and featuring music from DJ R. Simms. Presented by the Richmond chapter of the National Association of Black Social Workers and the Virginia Black Music Foundation, the new Saturday Soul Social at Brickstone Grill, will run from 7:00 to 11:00 PM. Tickets are $15.00 in advance and can be purchased at saturdaysoulsocial.com or by calling 804-404-2640.
Saturday Soul Social is located at the Brickstone Grill, at 9826 Midlothian Turnpike, Richmond, VA
