(February 12, 2023 – Detroit, MI)-Some of the world’s biggest names in the music industry have been nominated for enshrinement into the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Class of 2023. At a press conference on April 5, 2022, the nominees with the most votes will be selected.
Leading this year’s 2023 class of 60 nominees are Beyonce, Jay-Z, John Legend, Berry Gordy, Burt Bacharach, New Edition, Clive Davis, Mary J. Bilge, Anita Baker, Hall & Oates, The Isley Brothers, Chaka Khan, Xscape, and the Recording Academy.
The National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Foundation had its history groundbreaking ceremony on September 30, 2022, in Marks. Mississippi to build a state-of-the-art- facility to celebrate the 230 plus rhythm and blues artists that have been inducted since 2013, that includes from the likes of James Brown, Prince, B.B. King, The Temptations, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Jackie Wilson, and Whitney Houston.
The National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Foundation this year will be honoring four individuals with the following awards, to be given annually. The National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Foundation has also developed another annual musical event coming in 2024 called the R&B MUSIC HONORS that will honor and showcase the best of R&B music of today.
- The LaMont D. Robinson Founders Award
- The Aretha Franklin Lifetime Achievement Award
- The Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Living Legend Award
- The Mary Wilson Global Music Industry Award
