Following on the success of her first live Google Plus Hangout concert, Grammy winner Patti Austin launches “Patti’s House” at the magical Firehouse Recording Studio (https://firehouserecording.com) in Pasadena, CA on September 9th, 2011. Singing since the age of 4, the recording studio represents Patti’s home away from home. Into her home she will invite guests from around the world to make music, social commentary and great fun. Patti’s House will feature a behind the scenes look at how great songs are “cooked.” In a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, Patti will interact with industry celebrities, friends, and fans; produce innovative music competitions and hold master classes on being an artist on the stage and in life.
The first open house will feature beatboxer sensation Butterscotch Clinton (www.ButterscotchMusic.com) who gained national notoriety in 2007 when she appeared as a finalist on America’s Got Talent. At the house with Ms. Clinton, will also be Lianna Gutierrez (www.liannagutierrez.com), sixteen year old singing phenomenon and protégé of Ms. Austin.
Patti will also hold a master class for the students of the LA Music Academy (www.lamusicacademy.edu), a college of music offering quality education in a personal and highly-specialized environment. With an honorary doctorate degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston MA, Patti sees college music school students as dynamic cultural change agents. She declares, “The dedicated music school student has already moved beyond the temptation of instant fame and sees the power of music in all its styles and variations to unite people beyond geography, social standing, politics and race.” Patti promises, “If we bring teachers, students, fans and innovative music driven products and programming together we can indeed make the world a better place and have lots of fun doing it.”
As her fans know, Patti’s House is always open. She is equally comfortable hanging out with heads of state trying to solve the challenging social problems of the day or a student trying to unite two diverse styles of music. As Patti’s Godfather Quincy Jones often states, “Music is the Messenger.”
Patti’s House will travel to music schools around the world and broadcast interactive egments, such as “Your Song”, “Your Solo”, “Sing Along with Patti”, “Instant Songs”, and “The Breakdown” (all the news of the day in a 3 minute song). You’re all invited to Patti’s House!
