(October 17, 2021) They say that when you visit Nashville, there is music everywhere you go. That was the case for my wife and I as we wandered down Broadway St in Music City this Summer. We settled into a small club for a bite, and received an unexpected treat: A young musician and singer with a voice that was an intriguing combination of clarity and sheer power. Our introduction to Natasia Greycloud.
We sat mesmerized as she moved from country to R&B to singer/songwriter pop over a couple hours. And we were hooked. America was also hooked on Greycloud during her time as a contestant on the 15th season of NBC’s The Voice, and the Newberg, Oregon transplant has found her way into the studios of Nashville, working with other performers when she’s not performing live around town.
For her introduction to SoulTracks, we have Natasia’s latest single, “Forever.” Opening with a mellow electric guitar, the song builds into a power ballad that amply displays Natasia Greycloud’s formidable vocal chops.
She tells us, “’Forever’ is one of the more vulnerable songs I’ve written, almost like a page from my diary. In relationships, so often we say things with the best of intentions, but our follow through falls short. It’s ok, it happens, but it hurts when the words have such impact. A word like “forever.” But we say it anyway, for the most part always hoping it will be true, and honestly, it feels good to say. So after an intense break up, like most artists I put my life to song. Music heals, and this song was part of that”.
She also credits her band for making the recording special. “It was also magically brought to life by an incredible team of musicians and my producer, and mix engineer Steven Williamson. Musicians included Tone Daniels on B3/Keys, Luke Sullivant on guitar/bass, and Lester Estelle on drums. This song wouldn’t be the same without them.”
We think the song and the singer are something special. Check out “Forever” below, and welcome Natasia Greycloud to SoulTracks. We hope to hear more from her in the time to come.
