Marvin Winans Hits #1

marvin(Los Angeles, CA) –  The gospel crooner, Marvin Winans, is back in a big way.  With the recent  release of his first recording in 13 years, the singer’s fan base showed just how much he was missed.  The PureSprings/EMI, Alone But Not Alone, captured the #1 spot on the Billboard Gospel Charts and placed #3 on Billboard’s overall combined Christian & Gospel Album Charts.

"Although he’s not a new artist, this is the first ever solo debut and he’s working it as such. It’s a fantastic record," says Larry Blackwell (VP/GM of EMI Gospel) about the vocal master.  Winans kicked off  the CD street date, in his hometown  at the elegant Seldom Blues  Restaurant  located  in the heart of downtown Detroit , over-looking the lake.  The evening was hosted by CeCe  Winans (CEO PureSprings Gospel) and the motor city’s Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.   Several of  Winans’ peers came out to support the affair: Karen Clarke-Sheard, J Moss, Marvin Sapp, Kim Burrell (also featured on CD), Vanessa Bell-Armstrong and others.

The celebration then moved over to Atlanta where the industry turned out in full-force.  The likes of  Bishop Paul Morton & First Lady Deborah Morton, Byron Cage, Men of Standard, Teresa Hairston (Gospel Today) , Darwin Hobbs, William Murphy, and several others filed in one after the other, for a night  of celebration.  The next spot the party will hit is the nation’s capital, Washington, DC, followed by New York, then Tinsel Town on Thursday, October 18th.  In a room with so many powerful voices it ‘s hard not to pass the mic around the room.  Sheer musical magic filled the room, with the highlight being a live performance by Winans and surprise guests joining him on stage.

The first single from the CD,"You Just Don’t Wanna Know" is building in spins daily. While in Atlanta Winans co-hosted two hours on the #1 gospel station in the city, Praise 97.5 FM.   A special "Live Unplugged" concert is being planned at XM Satellite Radio on October 6th in the Washington, DC area.  When the singer makes his way to New York, Sirius Radio’s "Praise 68" will open their studio doors to him for an up close and personal interview, set to air on October 11th at 1:00pm (est).  There’s no letting up in sight for Marvin Winans, he’s working this CD as though it was his first, hitting morning shows in all the markets, conducting interviews, speaking at churches and doing a string of in-store appearances at Wal-Mart.   "We’re so proud of Marvin and the results we’re seeing from everyone’s hard work. This is a great record and we believe this is just the beginning," says Demetrus Stewart (President/GM of PureSprings Gospel) .

Winans’ MySpace page has only been up for a few weeks and  it has already racked up 2,600 friends, 41,000 plays and over 24,000 viewers.  Yes, this is the most highly anticipated gospel CD of the year and Winans’ new and long-time fans are showing up in a major way to lend their support.  LOG ON TO: https://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=5ad6gfcab.0.0.6rvirzbab.0&p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.myspace.com%2Fmarvinwinansmusic&id=preview to get hear snippets from Alone But Not Alone .
