SoulTracks LookBack: Jeffrey Daniel shows off the moonwalk…a year before Michael

One of our favorite groups of the 80s was SOLAR’s bit hitmaker, Shalamar, an attractive and talented group consisting of Howard Hewett, Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniel. Shalamar began as a thrown-together producer’s group and  wound up one of the most popular and exciting vocal groups of the late 70s and early 80s. Read Full Shalamar biography

While Hewett and Watley both went on to big fame as singers, Daniel was known best as one of R&B music’s great dancers. He became one of the first artists to do the “moonwalk” (well before MJ) and he went on to both perform and train other dancers.

Today we take a look back at one of his fun early 80s performances, dancing to the Shalamar hit, “A Night To Remember.” Check it out below. What fun to watch!
