(March 28, 2023) Many SoulTrackers know K.Avett as a top notch independent soul singer from Dallas, who has graced our pages several times over the years. But as we revealed in 2020, she is also a registered nurse who spent the early days of the pandemic caring for patients tirelessly in a COVID-19 unit at a Boston hospital on a traveling nurse assignment.
Recently, nurses.org reached out to K.Avett due to her notable singing career to offer her the opportunity to audition to represent nurses everywhere by singing the national anthem at “Boston Red Sox Nurse Night” at Fenway Park before a Red Sox game. The good news is that she has made the finals! (Vote Here)
She tells us, “I appreciate nurses being celebrated in any capacity, especially in ways that showcase our talents outside the realm of healthcare. To say that I am proud of my nurse colleagues across the globe is an understatement. The Coronavirus pandemic highlighted the tenacity, fortitude, and sacrifice that nurses demonstrate everyday and for many of us, this will be the most traumatic experience of our professional lives. And yet, we continue to persist. I am proud to be a nurse; I am also delighted to return to my first love & can’t wait to share new music.“
Let’s wish K.Avett the best with her singing, even as we thank her again for her service over the past several years helping those in need.
