Soulful Hip-Hop Innovator Kae Sun Preps Debut Album “Lion on a Leash” for USA release

Flavorful Reinterpretation of Bob Marley Classic "Natural Mystic" Single Release

"Kae Sun is a songwriter whose work transcends contemporary definitions and exists in a realm of its own. A poetic observer of the human experience, his music is designed to touch without suffocating the listener with faux illusions of authenticity or grandeur. Instead he turns his observations into questions, engaging his generation in debate over direction and thoughts on tomorrow. His love songs are both passionate and beautiful, delivered with the sincerity of an old soul." Okay Player
(New York City, NY) — Ghanaian musician Kae Sun is proud to announce the worldwide digital release of his stunning debut full-length album, Lion On A Leash on November 9th. Lion On A Leash was previously released exclusively in Canada on URBNET Records (Moka Only, D-Sisive, DL Incognito).   Hailed by the National Post as "a powerful, free-flowing party with a message", Lion On A Leash effortlessly captures the attention of both Canadian and American music listeners, paving the way for his international crossover.  As a teaser to the album, Kae Sun will release his timely and unique interpretation of Bob Marley’s "Natural Mystic" as a stand alone single on October 12th.
Incorporating elements of neo-soul, traditional folk and reggae roots, Kae Sun has created a distinct, hip-hop inspired sound that has caused leading music journalists to take notice. Influential urban music site Okay Player said that Lion On A Leash is "a definite must hear for heads looking for diversity in their hip hop" while adding that "to put out something this good early in his career speaks to his long term potential." Chicago Now called him "fresh" and "versatile" and EURWeb said that he "brings a much needed new light to the  industry".   Based in Toronto, ON, Kae Sun has long been active in the Canadian music scene and part of a progressive hip-hop movement that spawned notable emcees such as K’naan, K-OS, Shad, and Drake. His music has received support from CBC Radio across the country as well as Alan Cross’ ExploreMusic website and radio show.  Music videos for "Lion On A Leash" and "On The Lookout" have received heavy rotation from MuchMusic, MuchMoreMusic, and MuchVibe.
