Did Gospel song inspire 42 point performance from James Harden?

(May 9, 2023) Basketball fans saw a “for the ages” performance Monday night by James Harden of the Philadelphia 76ers in the Sixers overtime win against the Boston Celtics. Reportedly, part of the inspiration for Harden’s clutch 42 point performance came from a song by Tasha Cobbs Leonard that coach Doc Rivers sent to him earlier that day, the inspirational 2018 smash, “You Know My Name.”

Jerome Ware of Shore Fire Media tells us, “When Harden got a text from his coach on the way to Wells Fargo Center, he was expecting motivational words and was surprised that he not only received a song, but a gospel song. Rivers later explained that the point of sending the song was to remind Harden of his identity. ‘It’s got to be some kind of good juju in this song,’ exclaimed the player after listening to the full seven-minute track. ‘I guess it worked!’”

When Tasha Cobbs Leonard – who is currently on a national tour – heard the news, she was overjoyed: “Wow, what a humbling feeling… warms my heart even that the truth of God’s love towards us is ringing out like a megaphone from platforms that influence the world! He knows your name too!”

Cobbs Leonard’s song has inspired an awful lot of people over the past few years, and has racked up nearly 200 million views on YouTube alone. Check out “You Know My Name” below, and see if its message leads you to a great day, too.
