A driving force in the entertainment industry, Nona Hendryx wears many hats. As a member of supergroup Labelle, Hendryx is a singer with a larger-than-life stage presence. As a solo artist, she has demonstrated her talents as a songwriter, arranger and producer. And as head of music company Spirit Sings LLC, Hendryx is a creative and formidable talent with a heart for new artists and a soul for the greater community.
All these abilities are coming together when, on June 11th, Nona Hendryx and Spirit Sings presents a night of hope and harmony with HopeStock: Music to Bailout Your Soul. Featuring an eclectic mix of NYC-based artists whose songs touch the heart and rouse the soul, HopeStock will use music to create avenues of awareness about concerns that affect our society. The HopeStock team – Joe Giammalvo, Christian John Wikane, and Lindsey Wilson – are themselves artists, journalists and marketing talents and are working with Nona Hendryx to spread the new currency of ‘hope.’
"In these times of economic uncertainty, we are all searching for solutions to everyday problems," Hendryx says. "Affordable housing, proper healthcare, and financial security are not as easily attainable as they were in our recent past. Music continues to be an inspiring antidote to these kinds of challenges, offering a reservoir of hope, and nurturing the human spirit."
HopeStock: Music to Bailout Your Soul will bring together a unique fusion of talent using their music to instill hope and a sense of pride in the audience. Artists performing are Grammy-nominated indie soul sensation Maiysha, spine-tingling Canadian-born baritone Giuseppe Spoletini, scintillating song stylist Mark Anthony Lee, and riveting singer-songwriter Beth Arentsen and her piano-cello-drum trio. Genre-bending a cappella group Sirens of Shrine will also lend their voices to the evening.
HopeStock: Music to Bailout Your Soul takes place on Thursday, June 11 at Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center Goodman House, 129 West 67th Street, Manhattan (between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue). Showtime is 7:30 PM. Tickets are $20 each at the Merkin box office (212-501-3330) or online https://www.kaufman-center.org/.
