This is really sad news. Since his release from prison three years ago, we’ve been rooting for El DeBarge. His 2010 album, Second Chance was, we hoped, just that. But his cancellation of his 2011 concert schedule because of a drug dependency relapse worried us. And now, MSNBC reports that El has been arrested in Encino, California for possession and intention to sell narcotics. It is another heartbreaking setback for a family that has had far more than its share of self-inflicted wounds over the years, and it is a blow to El DeBarge’s fans, who were hoping that he was overcoming past drug and legal problems.
