SOLAR Records founder Dick Griffey dies

AllRadioNews.com has reported that Dick Griffey, the founder of the pioneering label SOLAR Records, died on Friday, Sept. 24th.  Griffey was a huge musical force in the 70s and 80s, as his Sound of Los Angeles Records became arguably the hottest young R&B label around, boasting great groups like Shalamar, the Whispers, Dynasty and Lakeside and becoming the label that brought the production work of Leon Sylvers III to the forefront.

He will be greatly missed.
