Bishop Oscar Wilson, father of Gap Band’s Charlie Wilson, dies

Wilson father of the funkadelic brotherly trio, the GAP Band.    Bishop Wilson was a servant of GOD for over 74 years.  He died from complications resulting from prostate cancer.

Son Charlie Wilson, who is currently in remission from prostate cancer himself, is a spokesperson for the Prostate Cancer Foundation.  "My father was an incredible man who had a profound effect on our family both as a father and a spiritual guide.  I made a commitment to spread the word about prostate cancer and with the passing of my Dad, that commitment is even stronger."

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Morning Star Baptist Church, 165 E. Cedar Street, Lucedale, MS  39452.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation at https://www.unclecharliewilson.com/, click on Prostate Cancer Foundation.
