Attrell Cordes, aka Prince Be of PM Dawn, dies at age 46

(June 17, 2016) Attrell Cordes, also known as Prince Be, one half of the hip-hop/R&B group PM Dawn has died at age 46 of kidney failure. Formed with Cordes’ brother Jarett in 1988, PM Dawn was best known for a string of hits in the early 90s, including the #1 “Set Adrift on Memory Bliss” and the Top 5 “I’d Die Without You” and “Looking Through Patient Eyes.”

The Cordes brothers continued working together until the end of the decade, releasing several albums that bore their attractive style that mixed classic soul elements with the emerging hip hop sound of the day.

Attrell Cordes suffered a stroke at the age of 35, but continued to perform after the setback, despite some paralysis, and performed on TV’s Hit Me Baby One More Time to rave reviews.

PM Dawn’s Facebook Page contained the following eulogy tonight:

Prince Be Rest In Peace Forever More,

Pain from diabetes can’t harm you anymore,

My Heart is at Peace B-Cuz U suffered so long,

Tell Grandma I said Hi & Stay Blisstatic & Strong.
