For nearly a half century, the great Howard Hewett has been a part of our lives. First as the male lead singer of Shalamar and then via a solo career, he has wrapped that familiar tenor voice around a series of songs that are part of the songs of our lives.
But not all of his great performances have reached the heights that they deserved. in 2014, Hewett independently released an acoustic gem of a song that had elements of country and a message of love lost but remembered. “You Still Live Inside of Me” made some small waves in indie soul circles, and the video for the song — which featured Hewett’s son Christopher — reached over 100,000 views on YouTube, but overall the excellent ballad didn’t receive the shine it deserved. And, to make things worse, the track is no longer available on Spotify or Apple Music, making it unavailable to those fans who didn’t buy the mp3.
