Soul Communicators is a special section of SoulTracks that honors some of the radio personalities, writers and entrepreneurs around the world who are dedicating their careers to keeping Soul Music alive and thriving.
Some of the “Soul Communicators” that we’ve honored focus on radio, some focus on social media and some on the written word. In the case of Paulette Jackson, she is a communicator who has done them all, and influenced the soul music community through the breadth of her talent and communication methods.
The Cleveland native is the founder and CEO of SCORP Lady Ventures and Ms. Music’s Voice, through which she has developed creative projects, promoted artists, provided consulting services and assisted with performance bookings. The former host of “The Classic Soul Music Café,” “The Jazz Zone” and “Center Stage” radio shows, she is always in the know on what’s happening in the soul music world – so much so, that we regularly contact her when stories are bubbling up on the internet.
A graduate of the Cleveland School of the Arts, where she studied dance and vocal music, Jackson has worked as a radio station owner and presenter. She is an ASCAP-affiliated songwriter and music publisher and has contributed to several print and online publications as a writer and editor. She was also part of the team that worked on O’Bryan’s 2019 single “Good Man.”
Jackson is also the author of several books, including The Music Through the Storm, The Music in Me, My Test(Imony) and Heaven’s Choir — Part 1. Two of her earlier works were accepted for consideration for the 2020 Author Academy Awards.
Still actively pursuing new artistic ventures, Jackson continues to create video series, editorial projects and other entertainment-related content, with additional books planned for the future. She is also the proud mother of two adult daughters, Paris and Brooke, who share her love of music and dance.
