When artists we all love come together, sometimes magic happens. So when we heard that songwriters supreme Helen Bruner & Terry Jones were teaming with legendary singer Miki Howard, well…we got kinda excited.
The result of this historic collaboration of three Grammy nominees is “Together We’re A Good Thing,” a muscular midtempo number with some old school nods. The song is about a couple that has been around the corner with each other a few times, only to finally realize that they are so much better together than apart.
The song provides the always soulfully melodic writing of the Bruner and Jones with the classic vocals of Howard, resulting in a cut that sounds like an instant classic — the kind of song that would have fit right in during the Golden Age of Soul Music, and which is just as welcome now. And even better, it is teams as a two-sided single with “Never Gonna Fall,” which we introduced to SoulTrackers back in early August.
