He is a Hall of Fame artist who has had three incredible careers, one as keyboardist and songwriter for The Isley Brothers, one as lead vocalist and keyboardist for 80s hitmakers Isley Jasper Isley, and a third as a prolific solo artist who has delivered a basketful of great songs over more than three decades. Of course, we’re talking about longtime SoulTracks favorite Chris Jasper.
Earlier this year, Chris took a welcome look back at both some of his great hit compositions and the work of other artists he admired. The result is For The Love of You, an album that immediately became a SoulTracks favorite and that uncovered reimaginings of a bunch of familiar songs.
For his newest single from For The Love of You, Chris takes the Van Morrison classic, “Have I Told You Lately,” and gives it a blue-light-in-the-basement nighttime jam feel. You can definitely imagine slow dancing with your loved one on this one, and Chris delivers it beautifully.
