Massachusetts-based singer Lori Dow has a voice that falls somewhere between Gabrielle Goodman and Teena Marie, and it works well on her debut album, Unconditionally Yours, on her own Lori Dow Records. Dow has wisely chosen to rely on a live band rather than electronics, on the CD, and it provides a more organic feel throughout. Ultimately the disc rises and falls with the material, and it mostly rises, especially on the ballads "All the Man I Need" (not the Whitney Houston/Linda Clifford song), Yolanda Adams' "Open My Heart" and the duet "You Used to Love Me" with Terry Gresham. Unconditionally Yours is clearly aimed at adult contemporary audiences, and it succeeds in providing a series of enjoyable, tasteful tracks that should go down easy.
