Since 1991, Pastor Gregg Patrick and his church, The Bridge Southwest Community Christian Center, have ministered to the needs of the people in Houston. One of the mega-church’s community outreach projects is the Stellar Awards Star Search, which became the vehicle that helped launch Micah Stampley. Patrick and his choir, The Bridge Project, take their first step into the limelight with Cross Over, their live debut record. Cross Over features the elements that gospel fans expect to hear: top flight musicianship, highly skilled and inspired soloists, a powerful choir, lyrics steeped in the word of God and guest spots by friends such as Bobby Jones.
"Crossing over" is a term that has spiritual and natural meanings. From the spiritual stand point; crossing over can mean anything from passing away to emerging victoriously from a challenge. In the music business, a crossover song is a tune that gains popularity with audiences beyond the performer’s natural constituency. Patrick, his choir and guest vocalists unapologetically embrace the spiritual dimensions of the term, so Cross Over’s crossover appeal will likely be limited. However, fans of foot stomping, hand clapping Lord praising big gospel will enjoy this traditional record. Notable songs: "I Need More," "El Shaddai" "Saved."
