Crackin’ (2005)

Falsetto singer Chazz Dixon is pretty prolific, so it is not surprising to see that he's released his third album in three years with the new Crackin'.  Dixon has gained an audience over the past half decade with his dead-on Smokey Robinson-like voice, and he received critical acclaim for last year's enjoyable Motown tribute album, Hitsville.  He doesn't have the same level of material on Crackin', but the arrangements are solid and his vocals are smooth throughout.  The upbeat cuts are fairly generic, but he finds his groove on light mid-tempo numbers like "More More and More, " "Melinda," and the first single "I Kinda Miss Ya."
