Brown Baby Girl (2006)

Brown Baby Girl has been creating quite a buzz over the past few years, particularly in Europe and East Coast US.  So there was a significant anticipation for their debut CD, 2006's Brown Baby Girl.  And for the uninitiated, Brown Baby Girl shows on record what all the fuss is about.  Combining authentic jazz vibes with Lorenda Robinson's soulful vocals, the album successfully walks a fine line and accomplishes something that few acts can:  creating a soulful, jazzy collection that is smooth without being smooth jazz.  And with sophisticated, engaging songs like "Stay," "Devotion" and the beautiful ballad "Been Here Before," Brown Baby Girl fills a very nice niche for those seeking musically superior adult soul music with a live feel.  A nice outing and a nice introduction to this talented act.
