Friends begin campaign to support ailing singer Sandy Griffith

(February 8, 2026) Friends and colleagues of soul singer Sandy Griffith have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover mounting medical expenses as she battles stage-4 lung cancer — a diagnosis that has temporarily silenced one of Northern California’s most treasured voices.

Gifted with a strong, rich, and deeply soulful voice, Griffith has spent decades moving audiences, often supporting other artists. A first-call vocalist among musicians and producers, she has lent her talents to recordings associated with Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Al Jarreau, Howard Hewitt, Patti Austin, Oleta Adams, and Regina Belle — to name just a few.

Her tour résumé is equally remarkable, featuring performances with Boz Scaggs, Huey Lewis and the News, Kenny Loggins, Howard Hewett, and Jonathan Butler. Whether anchoring background harmonies or delivering stunning lead moments, Sandy’s voice has been a trusted and inspiring presence on stages and in studios alike.

Producer Preston Glass — who has worked with Sandy and called her one of the Bay Area’s premier vocalists — will be releasing a special single she recorded years ago, “Love Is Worth The Pain” (written with Narada Michael Walden), with all proceeds going to support her medical needs. The track will be available on all digital platforms beginning February 13th.

Through her extraordinary voice, professionalism, and generosity, Sandy Griffith has been a quiet cornerstone of so many recordings and performances. Today, her community returns that love — standing with her in this fight and helping her focus on healing, not bills.
