(December 27, 2025) R&B star Montell Jordan has received the greatest Christmas gift he could hope for. In a post on social media, he announced that on Christmas morning, his doctors called him to inform him that his prostate cancer was “undetected,” and that he is now “cancer free.” This is the answer to not only Montell’s prayers but also the prayers of his millions of fans who have followed his journey with prostate cancer for nearly two years. Here is his post:
In 2024, Jordan was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and he has spent much of time since then receiving medical treatments while also changing his diet. He was open about his battle, becoming an ambassador for the group Zero Prostate Cancer, and working on the upcoming documentary Sustain — an intimate portrait of Jordan as he dealt with the diagnosis of prostate cancer
Montell Jordan emerged in the mid-1990s as one of R&B’s most recognizable voices, arriving with a blend of church-bred musicality and West Coast swagger that helped define an era. His debut single, “This Is How We Do It,” exploded out of the gate in 1995, spending seven weeks at No. 1 and became a generational anthem.
Jordan followed that breakthrough with a consistent run of hits, both as a singer and as a songwriter and producer for artists like Sisqó, Deborah Cox, and Christina Milian.
Yet as his success grew, so did an internal tension. The handsome, 6 foot 8 inch Jordan later revealed that maintaining the industry’s expected “sex symbol” image conflicted with his personal values and his commitment to his marriage. By the mid-2000s, he stepped back from mainstream music altogether, eventually founding Master Peace Church with his wife Kristin, and authoring the book This Is How We Do It! Making Your Marriage A Masterpeace.
Throughout both his career and his recent health challenges, Jordan has been a beacon of strength and faith, and this latest news is as good as we could have hoped for as we finish 2025.
