Coming off the biggest selling album of the past decade, her 2011 smash 21, Adele wanted to take some time off, and, other than singing the theme song in the lastest James Bond movie, Skyfall, she has largely succeeded. But following her win at Sunday’s Grammy’s for her song “Fire to the Rain,” she told the press that she is preparing for her third album.
Adele told Billboard magazine “I’m having lots of meetings. I’ve been in L.A. for the whole time since the (Golden) Globes, and I will be until the Oscars. I’ve been having lots of meetings. I’ve been out of the loop really. I’ve been singing my baby nursery rhymes, so I don’t really know what’s cool and what’s not. I’m definitely going to visit Paul Epworth and stuff like that again.” Epworth was her collaborator on 21.
Shockingly, even though 21 is two years old, it continue to rip up the charts, still in the top 25 albums and still selling a hefty 20,000 copies a week. It has now sold over 10 million copies at a time when less than two dozen albums a year even sell one million. It is safe to say that Adele’s next project will be one of the most anticipated releases in a long, long time.
