Mica Millar announces new album — hear first single

(January 21, 2026) ‘A Little Bit of Me’ is the long-awaited second album from British soul singer, songwriter, producer and independent creative force Mica Millar – a singular artist, who has defied industry norms and achieved international recognition entirely on her own terms.  Set for release on 5th June via her own label, Golden Hour Music, ‘A Little Bit of Me’ is a deeply personal body of work, recorded at Brad Pitt’s Miraval Studios in Provence and mastered at the legendary Sterling Sound. The first taste of the album, its title track, is also released today and available to listen to here. Alongside the album announcement, Millar confirms her biggest UK headline shows to date: London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 9th October and Manchester’s New Century Hall on 26th September.

Since the release of her 2022 debut Heaven Knows, Millar has become one of the UK’s most distinctive contemporary soul voices, building an acclaimed career entirely independently. Self-managed, self-produced and written, her debut album, which featured world-class collaborators including Prince alumni Ricky Peterson and David Z, earned widespread praise, including five-star acclaim from the Daily Express and Daily Mirror, the cover of Blues & Soul Magazine, and the Jazz FM Award for Soul Act of the Year. Major milestones followed, including sold-out headline shows globally including Manchester’s Albert Hall and London’s Union Chapel, support slots with Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Gladys Knight and Gregory Porter, support from across BBC TV and Radio and a 2023 induction into The Recording Academy.

The new album arrives after three years of intense introspection, emotional recalibration and a deliberate reclaiming of autonomy, creatively, spiritually and as a woman moving through the world on her own terms. Written in the wake of a life-altering spinal cord injury and the unrelenting demands of independence, the record charts a journey back to herself: a woman choosing softness without surrender and a femininity defined by truth rather than expectation.

The album’s title track, revealed today, is a profound act of reclamation. What began as a single lyric evolved into a mantra for Millar throughout the recording process. It is a song about “losing yourself, rediscovering and seeing yourself” and serves as the perfect introduction to the album. After the hard and painful process of recording her debut album, Millar was determined to rediscover the joy in the creative process and this track specifically gave her the strength and perspective to do that, as she explains;

“‘A Little Bit of Me’ became a mantra about reminding myself that I wanted the process to be enjoyable and fulfilling – it allowed me to remind myself that I don’t have to sacrifice absolutely everything on this creative pursuit or be unkind to myself or be in pain on the journey of creating a record – it reminded me to enjoy the process in the moment, give it what I had but not to my own detriment and that what I have to give, is good enough.”

With ‘A Little Bit of Me’, Mica Millar moves into a new era defined by autonomy, vulnerability and womanhood in all its complexity, a reminder of why she stands as one of the most exciting and genuinely independent voices in British music.
