Back in 2015, it had been been nearly a decade since fans had heard anything on record from SILK, one of the great vocal groups of the 90s. The quintet had been touring with such stagemates as 112, Jagged Edge, Mint Condition, Ginuwine and Tank, but had not stepped in the studio for years.
But they were approached by producer Wirlie Morris (Charlie Wilson, Keith Sweat, Dru Hill), who had a song he felt was perfect for SILK at urban radio. The cut had throwback sensitivities and the kind of vocal arrangements that fit just right for all five original members: Jimmy, John-John, Timzo, LIL G, big G.
“Love 4 You 2 Like Me” was a song about a guy who was speaking from the heart to a woman he wanted to get closer to. It was also the first single from the Quiet Storm album. While it was a shimmering, attractive song, it never quite received the shine it deserved. But we loved it and continue to dig it all these years later.
