Not much more can be said about the greatness of the late, great Luther Vandross. He virtually defined adult soul in the 80s and 90s, with countless hits and that voice.
One of Luther’s signature songs was his smash ballad “So Amazing,” from the album Give Me The Reason. The song was a lush masterpiece, but takes on a different feel in the a capella mix we recently found of the song.
If anything, this version, which strips out all of the sweeteners that a rich orchestration can provide, reminds of just how pure and clear Luther’s baritone was. Chilling.
