SoulTracks Instant Classic: Gene Noble asks us to “Say Something”

genenoble

It is sometimes tough to tell the wheat from the chaff with young singers, but when he’s on, NYC singer Gene Noble is all wheat. He is still maturing as a songwriter and as an artist, but he has shown in his young career that he has the ability to create chilling moments.

Of of those moments was his cover (unfortunately, not on his debut album) of on A Great Big World’s 2013 hit single, “Say Something.” He takes what to us was a pretty average slow song (and performance) and turns it into a tour de force, adding guts and gravitas in a way that I just didn’t see in the original. And it is all in his voice.

Take a listen to “Say Something” from Gene Noble, below. It is a SoulTracks Instant Classic.
