It was a jolt to the musical world when Eddie Kendricks (Click Here for the full Eddie Kendricks biography) left the Temptations in 1971.

But the Temptin’ Tempts kept right on rolling with new lead Damon Harris and Eddie did, too. He amassed over a dozen hits during the remainder of the decade, including #1s “Keep on Truckin” and “Boogie Down.” And his ride as a solo artist began with a very nice, but often overlooked midtempo called “It’s So Hard for Me to Say Goodbye.”
