March 3, 2018 — The saying “the third time’s the charm” certainly applies to the gifted and formidable artist Bruno Mars.
His third studio album, 24K Magic, released in late 2016, is a critical and commercial home run: Double-platinum sales, three Grammy awards in 2018, including Album of the Year, and five singles, all of which charted. Largely a delightful mix of pop, dance, funk and hip hop, there is one slow-burning “sleeper” track on the record that wasn’t released as a single and hasn’t been a focus of radio or the public conversation. It’s the album’s closer “Too Good To Say Goodbye,” a classic, old school R&B ballad co-written by Babyface whose lovely melody grabs your ears immediately and won’t let go.
