SoulTracks Lost Gem: The “Sweetest” Anita Baker song that was never released

anitabaker

Back in 2012, legendary singer Anita Baker appeared on Good Morning America to announce her tour and an upcoming album. Despite issuing the initial single, “Lately,” which quickly climbed the Urban Adult Contemporary charts, the Blue Note album ever materialized, much to the dismay of her fans.

On that GMA appearance, Baker performed another song that was planned for the LP release. “Sweetest Dreams” was a jazzy midtempo that had a vibe much like her breakout hit “Sweet Love” nearly three decades earlier. The song never made it to the studio, but at least we all have that live television performance to savor. The quality of the video is sketchy, but the song is pure gold.

“Sweetest Dreams” is our latest SoulTracks Lost Gem. Check it out below and keep hoping with us that maybe, just maybe, this song will make it to record.
