My phone, Twitter and Facebook page were all blowing up yesterday. “Did you see Liv Warfield on Fallon?” What??? Our girl, Liv Warfield, the former track star from Portland? On Fallon?
We fell in love with Liv in 2006, when she released her very embraceable debut album, Embraceable You. And our feelings deepened when she flew to Detroit to sing at our 2008 SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award show. We’ve heard bits of new music from her since then, but nothing, NOTHING, prepared us for her national coming out this week on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where our girl killed it with help from the New Power Generation on her full stage production of “Why Do You Lie,” the lead single from her upcoming album, The Unexpected. The performance was so powerful and assured, she blew us away all over again.
