December 18, 2019 — We’ve run out of superlatives at SoulTracks to describe the music and style of the Grammy-winning artist H.E.R., whom we most recently have described as the “Re-birth of the Cool.” Her songwriting, vocal talent, and musicianship are second to none among her generation of R&B/soul artists, and we’re always eager to see what she’s up to next.
Luckily for her fans, “next” just arrived in the form of a live for VEVO video performance of her single “Slide.” Backed by a superb small ensemble of skilled players, H.E.R. delivers a warm and supple vocal here laced with hip-hop phrasing and her own rhythm guitar work. Enjoy.
