We first introduced SoulTrackers to talented singer and songwriter Tamika Nicole when she released her 2009 album, The Art of Letting Go. We labeled it as “Highly Recommended,” and anxiously awaited more from this bluesy, soulful vocalist, who could handle deep soul, rock or hard blues with equal aplomb.
We were happy to present new music from Tamika, with the excellent single, “Next to Me.” That song was just a preview, and now Tamika’s full new project is here!
Taking It There, Tamika’s new album, shows an artist with a powerful voice who is comfortable in her skin. She handles everything from soul to rock to blues to jazz with aplomb, and we’re all glad to go along for the ride. From a hard hitting cover of the Beatles’ “Come Together” to her cool, jazzy take on “Stormy Monday,” this is a tour de force.
Tamika worked with Producer/Guitarist Cam Perridge to capture the sound on this record. “Our process was very organic. We both had a goal of writing and arranging songs that were true to the music.” Employing the use of live instruments throughout the entire project, the music on Taking It There has an urgent feel and universal contemporary sound. “We wanted it to appeal to the everyday person who needs to hear real human emotions”.
We’re proud to present Taking It There as our new Listening Room. Listen to clips from Tamika’s ambitious new project below and then click below to check it out for a special price at Amazon.com!
