9th Solo Album Pays Tribute to the Roots of Memphis Soul
We may not have followed uber-talented saxman Michael Lington from the beginning, but once we found him we never let go. And that applies more than ever as the talented musician, composer and producer issues his 9th solo album, the terrific Second Nature, an R&B and jazz tour de force.
Michael is clear on what he wanted to accomplish with the album: “My vision for this project was Retro-Modern! While honoring the original vibe of the Memphis sound, I wanted to put my own stamp on it. This recording is about going back to my roots, to the music that inspired me to play the saxophone and move to America.”
Michael brings along an all-star cast of friends for this fun and funky album. Booker T. Jones, Sy Smith, Taylor Dayne, Brian Culbertson, The Dap Kings Horns, Ray Parker, Jr., and many many more musical giants are part of this project, and producer supreme Barry Eastmond is behind the boards.
Whether he’s delivering a new composition like “Beale Street” or covering a classic like the Bar-Kays’ “Soul Finger,” Michael delivers non-stop fun on Second Nature.
