First Listen: New Edition unites to give “This One” great song to us

(March 15, 2015) It’s tough to find many group’s after the Motown era that have had the longevity and fan loyalty that New Edition has enjoyed. Even with lineup changes, solo careers of three members and the success of Bell Biv Devoe, the six members of New Edition have always remained close, and have joined together for tours and new music every few years.

There has been a lot of talk about an upcoming New Edition album — with details yet to be announced — but what we do have in the meantime is a reunion song that is definitely a winner in our books. “This One’s For Me and You” is from the latest Johnny Gill album, Game Changer, but features the whole group (minus Bobby) — with special shared lead vocals with Ralph Tresvant. It’s a great midtempo number with a classic sound, and it gets us hungry to hear more from the now-grown men from New England.
