Lots of folks have been talking about the new Spike Lee move, Chi-Raq, and the buzz is strong. The movie is an adaptation of the ancient Greek play Lysistrata, set against the backdrop of gang violence in Chicago, and it has a bevy of big stars, including Samuel L. Jackson, Angela Bassett, Wesley Snipes and Jennifer Hudson.
J Hud also sings the touching first song released from the movie. “I Run” is lightly arranged ballad, with the sound filled by Jennifer’s churchy vocals. It is a song of hard times and the hope for better days ahead, something that the talented Ms. Hudson has experienced in her own life.
