Flashback Soul: Aretha Franklin & Smokey Robinson Duet on “Ooh Baby Baby”

aretha-smokey

August 17, 2018 — When you put two of the greatest soul vocalists of all time together at a piano, they can’t help but make a little magic.

The catalyst here was the legendary Don Cornelius, host of Soul Train, who innocently asked Aretha Franklin, with Smokey Robinson seated right next to her, whether she “remembered”  any of Smokey’s tracks. What happened next is something stunningly beautiful, an impromptu duet for the ages. Enjoy.
