(August 5, 2025) “So Sorry,” the new song by Keith Sweat and Roi Anthony, has that 1980s “Quiet Storm dedication hour” feel. Back in the day, it seemed like every Quiet Storm DJ had a dedication hour where guys (mostly) called songs and requested the jock to play a song that expressed their true and undying love to his bae. If the brother messed up, he’d request a song where the vocalist acknowledged the error of his ways and with his heart in his hands asked for forgiveness. The singer would say the words that the man would say — if he could get her to pick up the phone.
Keith Sweat has been making begging R&B songs for a minute, and “So Sorry,” a tune that finds him tag teaming with soul singer, frequent collaborator, and Louisiana native Roi Anthony, proves that Sweat is still at the top of his game.
The track has elements of classic R&B balladry like jazz infused acoustic guitars and modern R&B elements such as trap-style percussion. The lyrics tell the story of a man who realized too late that he had a good thing. The vocal pairing of two men who are unafraid to be vulnerable, transparent, and honest while also sounding like grown men is what puts this number over the top.
