First Listen: Zamar Yauw is on the “Road to Destiny”

(April 27, 2025) Just about everyone is concerned about where they will go in life, what their purpose is, and how to find fulfillment.  It’s no surprise, then, that such a quest is often expressed in music.  Our latest First Listen is a song based on that concept – “Road to Destiny” by Zamar Yauw.

Zamar is an R&B singer and musician based in Houston, Texas, with roots in the Bahamas.  He began pursuing music professionally in 2012, following in the footsteps of his father – Bernard Pierre, Sr. – a pianist and vocalist.  Zamar released his debut EP amid the pandemic in 2020.

His upcoming release, “Road to Destiny”, is a piano-driven ballad that reflects his experiences throughout his music career.  He sings, in part:

“I’m a fighter and I’m a survivor
Do whatever it takes, even walk through the fire
As long as this road leads me to my destiny
So, I’m on my way”

This song has special meaning for Zamar, and his stage name is loaded with meaning too.  Zamar is a Hebrew word defined as “to make music” and Y.A.U.W. is an acronym for “You Are Ultimately Worthy.”  So altogether, his stage name means: “To make music, you are ultimately worthy.”

If you enjoy songs like K’Jon’s “On the Ocean” and Aloe Blacc’s “My Way,” we think you’ll also enjoy “Road to Destiny.”  Zamar’s hope is that his song motivates you to never give up.

So, check out Zamar Yauw as he journeys on this road, and see where the music and the message take you.
